Living in rural areas, in different parts of the world, could be challenging: lack of transportation, infrastructure, limited offer of new training courses.
It is specifically in this last field – the offer of new training pathways in rural areas – that the consortium of VETgoesRURAL project is meant to intervene.
To discuss about next steps of the project, the partner organisations met on the 24th and 25th of April in the sunny Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, hosted by the local partner and coordinator of the project Radio Ecca. It was one and a half day of discussion about what has been done so far and the next activities to be implemented: all members of the project consortium updated the partners about the work carried out and defined key priorities for the incoming period.
The first phase of research, mapping and analysis ended in January 2023, with the production of a report gathering information about education and training pathways in rural areas and the difficulties in accessing and implementing courses. The report will be available in English on VETgoesRURAL website.
These statistics and data, supported the consortium in the elaboration of the second activity of the project: the development of a methodological tool that encompasses more efficient dynamics of learners’ engagement techniques and learning methods to better Design-Enrol-Deliver-Engage-Deploy and Evaluate educational and training programmes in rural/remote contexts.
The tools will be available in English and all partners’ languages in August 2023.
Now the consortium is planning the next resources to be developed: E-learning Course for rural and remote VET professionals, to transfer the innovative methodology developed within the project to practitioners who work in the field of education and training for adult learners in areas with less than 5000 inhabitants.
