Nowadays, communities all around the world are facing sustainable and ethic development problems, increasing on a daily basis and showing no signs of stopping. This new reality has impact on our future, that is why SAVING project is aiming at supporting new generations to be more sensitive and responsive about the topic of food security and zero food waste.
From the 8th to the 12th of May, project’s partners met in Málaga – hosted by Asociación Arrabal AID – for the second training event foreseen by SAVING project, with the main aim of involving local and foreign participants in the testing of SAVING e-learning platform and other activities related to informal and innovative educational tools. In this phase, youths from five countries, educators and trainers were involved for achieving the common goals step by step for more sustainable future.
Participants had the possibility to combine field visit, practical workshops and theoretical training. We came into contact with innovative entities as Asociación Libero, whose lines of action can be summarized in citizen empowerment, social inclusion and sustainable development. There, participants learnt more about eco-farming, sustainable agriculture, the connection between climate change and human rights, recycling and upcycling as practices to be implemented in our everyday lives.
Moreover, we visited CIFAL Málaga: a local United Nations’ antenna, which aims to provide opportunities for training and exchange of good practices, tools and strategies at national and international level, in order to have direct impact on the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Last but not least, the SAVING e-learning platform was tested in its first version, by experts coming from six EU countries as well as Spanish young adults who provided their feedback on the contents and user-friendliness of the resource.
The five-days training was full and intensive. It seems that younger generations – as well as older – are more aware of the problem and are ready to act. Full of ideas and enthusiasm, participants were truly involved in the exchange of opinions, which was one of the most interesting and challenging part of these training activities, and the core of the training itself.
Now, we are approaching the end of SAVING project, organising local events in Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey to share the consortium results and achievements.
