How can art contribute to building a more inclusive society? This question lies at the heart of DEAP – Disability, Education, Art and Participation, a European project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme that promotes the personal development and empowerment of young people with visual impairments through innovative arts-based learning pathways.
Ceramics, dance, and theatre become powerful tools to foster self-expression, creativity, emotional awareness, and active participation in society. Through the collaboration of organisations from Italy, Poland, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, and Sweden, DEAP is creating accessible and inclusive learning opportunities that recognise and nurture the potential of every young person.
In this first newsletter, we look back at the project’s key milestones: from the first transnational meeting in Palermo to the findings of the transnational needs analysis conducted across the partner countries, and the first international training courses dedicated to tactile ceramics and inclusive dance. It is a journey that demonstrates how art can break down barriers, create meaningful connections, and open new pathways for personal and social growth.
