Tools and future of youth social entrepreneurship: SE4YOU’s last meeting in Reykjavík outlines next steps

Social entrepreneurship marks a process towards innovative solutions to pressing social problems – a movement with a positive impact on communities, societies and the world at large. Considering the potential that social economy has on social inclusion and the environment, the SE4YOU project started in 2020 with the deeply felt idea of young people being the leading ‘social entrepreneurs’, who should thus be given useful and intuitive tools to concretely implement their ideas.

Over the two years of the project, the partnership created three open source educational tools, designed to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of 18-30 year olds:

  • Social Business Roadmap, for creating a social enterprise in 10 steps, handbook and training videos;

  • Course on Social Entrepreneurship towards Sustainable Growth. Training and presenting best practices and processes for social innovation in 6 modules;

  • Social Entrepreneurs Help Desk. Tool box for social entrepreneurs and trainers, including relevant resources, links training and support and communication platforms

The activities’ objective is to share an impact legacy with both individuals and interested organisations, while giving space and voice to the European social economy.

The partnership met in Reykjavík, city of the coordinator Einurð, on August 3rd and 4th 2022, in order to assess the content-related impact while planning the sustainability of the online platform. In view of the excellent results achieved, the consortium members have committed to proposing SE4YOU’s educational resources as a youth training tool in their subsequent activities.

Finally, PRISM Impresa Sociale had the honour of participating in the project’s closing conference organised at the University of Iceland by Einurð, whereas several young Icelanders shared social innovation ideas and projects within their local area, demonstrating that even ideas entrenched to personal life – such as a disability or a personal experience – have the power to improve the territory whenever guided and conveyed by information tools such as SE4YOU’s.
