On 25 July 2024, PRISM organised the HealthMi Multiplier Event at Moltivolti in Palermo to promote the integration of migrants into the local health system. The event was attended by more than 30 people, including health professionals (psychologists, nurses, first aid workers, social workers, cultural facilitators) and migrants.
The meeting started at 6 p.m. with a short presentation of the Healthmi project and its objectives and results. This was followed by an interactive workshop to preview Modules 1 and 9 of the project, focusing on first aid procedures and migrants’ well-being. During the evening, two experts in the field, a psychologist and a doctor, led a critical discussion on the contents of the modules.
An open discussion then involved all participants and the speakers, representatives from various fields such as cultural mediators, nurses, doctors, psychologists and social workers, on the topic of integrating migrants into the health care system. The event ended with a light social dinner offered by the migrants’ association MOLTIVOLTI.
The event was promoted online and by word of mouth, with the support of the Provincial Health Agency of Palermo. Feedback from participants was very positive, underlining the importance of addressing sensitive issues and raising awareness on these issues.
