The AI in Higher EDU project seeks to transform higher education pedagogy through the integration of artificial intelligence. Its primary objectives are to empower educators with innovative AI-driven tools and methodologies, foster collaboration between universities and AI experts, and promote ethical and transparent use of AI in academic settings. The project also focuses on preparing future educators by involving pedagogy students, equipping them with essential AI integration skills for long-term professional development.

To achieve these goals, the project will implement a range of activities including the integration of AI tools in classroom teaching, the development and delivery of comprehensive training modules for educators, pilot testing of AI applications to gather feedback, and the creation of ethical guidelines for responsible AI usage. Additionally, educational videos and podcasts will be produced to disseminate knowledge and best practices, amplifying the project’s reach and impact.

Expected outcomes include a more inclusive approach to AI in education, improved teaching practices through AI integration, the upskilling of educators, and the establishment of ethical standards for AI in academia. The project aims to be a catalyst for innovation and collaboration, ultimately contributing to the modernization and enrichment of higher education pedagogy.

Objectives

Integrate artificial intelligence into higher education pedagogy to modernise teaching and learning practices and enhance educational quality.
Empower higher education educators with AI-driven tools, methodologies and practical competences applicable to classroom teaching.
Strengthen collaboration between universities, AI experts and educational innovators to foster cross-sectoral knowledge exchange and co-creation.
Promote ethical, transparent and responsible use of AI in academic contexts through the development of shared guidelines and standards.
Upskill current educators through structured training modules and hands-on experimentation with AI applications in teaching.

Activities

Analysis of current teaching methodologies and AI integration, including literature review, needs assessment, user research, identification of AI integration points, and sustainability assessment of selected AI tools.
Empowering educators through AI integration training and support, including the development of structured training modules, piloting of training contents, systematic feedback collection, and translation of training materials.
Empowering educators through multimedia and knowledge-sharing activities, including the development of educational videos, production of a podcast series, organisation of webinars, and translation of communication and learning materials.
AI multimedia knowledge sharing and ethics, including the development of ethical guidelines for AI use in education, stakeholder consultation, guidelines finalisation, translation of materials, and user testing.
