In the last 2 years, PRISM has been collaborating with RDE-EMTh (Greece), PMF SRL (Italy), MUS-E (Cyprus), SPOLEK PELICAN (Czech Republic) and AKADEMIA NAUK (Poland) on the POMELO project, which deals with the development of innovative tools and methodologies used in the performing of integration practices for young migrants and local youth. Having the purpose of presenting, testing and assessing the results achieved, PRISM hosted a training online which took place from the 23 to the 27 of November 2020 and was attended by instructors, volunteers, youth workers, youth organizations staff and social workers of different nationalities.
Due to the health emergency, learning activities were carried out remotely and required the use of formal and non-formal teaching methods, as well as the use of online tools.
To be specific, activities were organized as follows:
– the first day focused on the registration and preparation of the participants,
– in the following three days, project partners conducted a Seminar (through meetings on the ZOOM platform) about the theoretical and practical implementation of the 3 Intellectual Outputs (Info-game and Competence Map; Training Pack For Social and Youth Workers; Training Kit For Local and Migrant Young People and Local Youth);
– on the last day, the course ended with evaluations, in which participants indicated the level of agreement based on their experience of the seminar and with the sharing of the Curriculum specifying the skills they acquired based on the EQF framework.
As general coordinator, PRISM wanted meetings to rely upon a constant, transparent and lively communication. Project partners kept an high level of attention throughout the Seminar and involved the joint staff in group activities, for example by asking them to:
– introduce themselves with a song,
– translate parts of a known song into their own language and then sing it all together,
– write a short poem on the subject and share it with the other members,
– give daily evaluations using digital tools (e.g. emoticons).
Music, lyrics, visual stimulations, PPT presentations, unconventional learning techniques and a multicultural environment were other methodologies and tools used during the Seminar. Despite the dissatisfaction for not being able to meet in person, the training ended successfully and brought enjoyment and comfort in such uncertain times.
Youthpass was issued to all participants to document and recognize learning outcomes from the Seminar. This allowed to further specify the POMELO project within the educational frameworks of the European Union.
