As part of the HI-GLOBE ‘Highlighting the potential of English language learning for Global Educational purposes’ project, a joint staff training course was held on the Zoom platform between 22-26 February, hosted by the partner organisation Promimpresa. The purpose of the training was to increase the competences of the project partners and support the elaboration of the HI-GLOBE learning modules that partners are developing on A1-A2 and B1-B2 levels.
The participants of the TC was bringing a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience from those field that are the main elements of the HI-GLOBE methodology, such as: English language teaching, TBL, CLIL, interactive digital tools in language instruction, Global education concept and methodology, non-formal education and adult education.
The first part of the TC was promoting the joint learning process and the transfer of know-how among participants, while the 2nd part of the TC was designed to build up and clarify the framework of the HI-GLOBE methodology itself, together with the elaboration and presentation of prototype HI-GLOBE unit lessons.
On the first day, after getting to know each other with several teambuilding exercises and the Global education concept and its methodology were clarified by PRISM from the theoretical and practical point of view, proposing different exercises prototype about the topic of “food sustainability”.
On the second day, FRAME clarified and brought some practical exercise about the TBL(Task-based learning) method, while PELICAN about the CLIL method (Content and Language Integrated Learning). The same day, the BAU University showed up how blended learning, with the use of ICT and digital tools, influences the human’s brain.
On the third day, the differences between individual and cooperative learning were underlined from ECQ. Two trios groups were created to prepare a prototype lesson applying all the contents above mentioned.
Each group worked on the third and fourth day in separate rooms and each of them has piloted the prototype lesson towards the other group, proposing different types of possible exercises, as they were teachers and students in a classroom.
On the fifth and last day, a guest was invited to bring another project “SAME world” as a best practise to be looked at in the field of Global Education. At the end of the training the participants gave a positive and enthusiastic opinion about the whole programme and steps further were taken in the implementation of the project.
