BOCOTO: Experience volunteering and community-based youth work in Africa, Asia and Europe

After 1 international capacity building training course, 6 Study visits on 3 continents, thousands of kilometres travelled, and hundreds of hours of learning experience lived, the BOCOTO project (Boosting Community-based Tourism and Youth Work for Global Sustainable Development) has arrived to the publication of its Community-based Tourism packages, that are / will be offered by 7 organisations to volunteers arriving from different part of the world.

It is ‘fortunate’ that all Study visits were realised before worldwide lockdown and emergency measures has been initiated due to COVID-19, therefore all partners have been piloting through a 10-day Study visit the planned Community-based experiences that they aim to offer together with their local partners and communities including young people, for the local sustainable development of the territory. The volunteering packages include 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months long experiences, developed on a holistic ground, offering cultural, social, educational activities and opportunity for personal development. The countries participating in the partnership are: India, Italy, Kenya, Nepal, Spain, Turkey and Vietnam.

Besides the publication of the BOCOTO Catalogue, the partnership is currently preparing for its final seminar, which will include 7 (!) open sessions, in which anyone interested in community-based tourism and youth work can have an insight to the BOCOTO experience and take part in interactive and engaging sessions.

Please visit the BOCOTO website to download the CBT Catalogue and read further resources in the field.
