MIVA – Capacity building workshop for host communities, Agrigento

The project “MIVA -Migrants’ Integration through Volunteering Activities”, funded by the AMIF Programme, offers opportunities at different levels. PRISM Impresa sociale s.r.l. and the Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento and Trapani held a 3-day training course for social workers, operators, volunteers and other members of civil society, last week, in Agrigento at the headquarters of the Mondoaltro Foundation.

Among the topics of the course there were: intercultural dialogue, cultural mediation, integration of migrants in the host community, fight against racism and much more. A mixed group of participants took part, in an interactive way, in several thematic workshops, which included both practical and theoretical activities, designed to provide and strengthen technical but also non-formal skills in the areas mentioned above, as well as social planning, European programming, sharing of good practices.

In this regard, several organizations of the territory such as Terre Senza Frontiere, Centro La Pira, Al Kharub coop. sociale and the Solima project, have shared their experiences, selected among some good practices. In addition, a workshop to present the INDIGO World app was included in the program of the activity, so as to spread its use in the areas surrounding Agrigento. Participants showed a great sense of satisfaction with the outcome of the course and shared their interest in participating in other similar experiences.
