A program of study visits and training on supporting interregional innovation investments took place in Évora, the capital of Portugal’s Alentejo region, from February 26 to 28, 2025. The program involved businesses, experts, and key stakeholders from partner organizations in Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Denmark.
In particular, the training program was carried out within the framework of the “Allon I3 – Alliance on Interregional Innovation Investments” project, co-financed by the European Union’s “Interregional Innovation Investments – I3” program. The Allon I3 project aims to enhance interregional investment ecosystems within the European Union’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3).
The Smart Specialisation Strategy has been the tool adopted by EU regions and member states since 2014 to maximize the impact of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) in research and innovation. It focuses resources on key areas of specialization unique to each territory.
