Discover CYSD training course in Italy
From 6 to 12 March 2023, the fourth international training of CYSD took place in Enna (Italy), on community empowerment and support to local communities through fundraising, including the use of social media and main digital storytelling techniques.
The training was hosted by Rocca di Cerere Unesco Global Geopark (Enna) and with the involvement of several professionals to implement a set of workshops and informative sessions on fundraising and digital storytelling.
During the training days, participants explored main techniques for fundraising and how digital technologies and social media can support local communities in the development of awareness and fundraising campaigns, as well as in the presentation of project proposals. Specifically, digital storytelling in all its forms (audiovisual, photographic, narrative, symbolic through symbolwork) is an easy and accessible tool for all, and it could be used for fundraising and to attract potential donors.
The participants also had the opportunity to visit the city of Enna and its surroundings, exchanging with the members of local associations and participating in several study visits managed by Rocca di Cerere Unesco Global Geopark. Among these: the Special Nature Reserve of Pergusa, the Visitor Center and Cozzo Matrice, thanks to the guidance and mentoring of Giuseppe Amato – Scientific Coordinator of the Rocca di Cerere Geopark.
In addition, time and efforts were dedicated to the exchange of best practices and peer-to-peer learning among the participants.
The one-week training represented an excellent opportunity to boost EU-Africa cooperation and improve the intercultural understanding among the partner countries, in order to build more inclusive and sensitive communities, attentive to the needs of all social groups.
