Pescatourism, an opportunity for change in Sicily

The kick-off meeting of the PESCAVET project took place on January 11th, which aims to create favourable conditions to increase the opportunities for sustainable entrepreneurship in the fishing tourism sector and contribute to the development of coastal communities in the Mediterranean and Black Sea basin. The main target groups addressed are currently employed or / and unemployed professionals who wish to enter the pescatourism sector and who want to develop their skills.

Pescatourism is a relatively new concept of fishing-related tourism which aims to create additional income for fishermen and their families and to provide knowledge on techniques to create attractive activities for tourists visiting the coast. During the kick-off meeting held in January 2021, the partners discussed the distribution of work, discussed in depth the intellectual outputs envisaged by the project and planned the first actions. The project lasts two years and is coordinated by Dario Ferrante on behalf of PRISM.
