The project aims at promoting the cooperation and exchange of practices between youth organizations on different practices of youth work in community development in different World-contexts. The project focuses on how the global crisis affects young people in its multi-dimensions.
The project includes a research/action approach aimed at identifying a precise map of the youth needs and difficulties under the crisis; this different youth needs around the world are addressed according to a creative approach experimented by PRISM, based on using the concept album of Pink Floyd entitled “The Dark Side of the Moon” by following the sequence of the songs in the album, topics addressed:
- Economic Crisis (Track: Money).
- Crisis of cultural references and values (Tracks: On the run / Breathe).
- Migrations and Inclusion (Track: Us and Them).
- Environment (Track: Eclipse).
- To enhance socio-professional development and competences in project management of youth workers to respond to identified community needs and global challenges affecting young people world-wide.
- To strengthen the international cooperation and the exchange of experiences on youth work and community development in different World countries.
- To deepen the knowledge of the current and expected future situation and needs of youth workers in different regions of the World.
- To strengthen the capacity of youth workers and organizations to contribute to civil society development.
Mobility activities for youth workers:
- #1 The International Training Course (9 days, Italy) provides non-formal and creative training on Project Cycle Management linked to the concept of Nonviolent Community Development, equipping youth workers with the knowledge, key competences, and learning tools needed for the development and delivery of community-based projects.
- #4 Job Shadowing activities offer a reciprocal opportunity for practical learning experiences, exchange of good practices, acquisition of key competences, and building long-term partnerships.
- The final booklet “The young side of the moon: youth workers and community development around the World”. The booklet is intended as a learning resource to support community development in the frame of youth work, specifically targeting youth workers that are engaged in community work with disadvantaged young people. Overall it aims to provide inspiration and guidelines to provide youth workers with knowledge, key competences and practical tools needed for the development and delivery of community-based projects that responds to identified young people community’s needs.
- A short video featuring highlights from the training course in Italy and the job shadowing experiences in Senegal, India, Vietnam, and Kenya, with the participation of 48 youth workers and 8 organizations.
Results
- Trained youth workers from all participating countries.
- Increased socio-professional development and cooperation between youth workers from different local communities across the world.
- Increased cooperation, networking and professional exchange in the field of youth and community development between organizations from Programme and Partner Countries.
- Enhanced innovation capacity and internationalization of youth organizations in Partner Countries.
