In October 2024, a group of visually impaired and blind youth, V.I, from Palermo participated in an important international training session at the IERFOP headquarters in Sardinia as part of the European CARE project. This experience proved to be a valuable opportunity to acquire innovative skills in the artistic and craft fields, particularly in clay working. During the hands-on sessions, participants had the chance to experiment with new techniques, develop psychomotor skills, and interact with other young Europeans, creating unique works of art.
The trainers from PRISM and the CARE project partners from Cyprus, Italy, Greece, Poland, and Ireland shared their expertise, enabling the young participants to express their potential as artists and to build self-confidence. The participants’ enthusiasm and the positive feedback received demonstrated the effectiveness of the project. The training also offered an opportunity to explore potential career paths in the arts, allowing visually impaired and blind youth to imagine new, increasingly inclusive job careers.
