From 3 to 7 July 2023, the international training of the VELA project, tailoring VET educators and adult learners, took place in Alcalá de Henares (Spain). The training was attended by educators from Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Poland to acquire new knowledge and explore different best practices on how to design digital and online learning environments, to be adapted to the needs of all adult learners.
During the training, the participants had the opportunity to explore the following topics:
- Development of accessible digital content and tools: accessibility criteria and standards
- Content development based on the principles of “gamification”: how to design interactive learning environments, inspired by the dynamics of gaming
- Development of quality digital content and online learning spaces: how to assess the quality of learning and monitor learners’ progress and acquired skills
- Development of digital content and tools to foster social inclusion: approach focused on the individuals. Focus on the gender issues, the prevention of online disinformation, the online verbal violence and other forms of online risks for adult learners

The 5-days training also represented an important opportunity for exchange between the participants, who actively contributed to the debates by illustrating a series of good practices and concrete examples on how to improve adult learning and ensure continuous lifelong learning by all, both the trainers and the trainees. All this, in order to highlight the strong value of digital skills and their application in everyday life and in the job market too.
