The shock of the COVID-19 crisis on education has been unprecedented. Vocational education and training (VET) systems are being uniquely impacted and it has received limited attention compared to other parts of the education system and is often seen as having lower status. There is an enormous variety of tools available to teachers and trainers to create their own learning material and environments, but the vast majority of them are not VET-specific.

VELA project wants to build more sustainable and resilient society in EU enhancing the delivery of education and training after COVID-19 crisis, supporting innovation and inclusion of vulnerable group.

  • To support VET providers to address teaching and learning processes through the development and implementation of new and more relevant teaching and learning approaches.
  • To strengthen vulnerable groups in facing the challenges presented by the recent sudden shift to online and distance learning while promoting equal opportunities among people of all backgrounds.
  • Desk and field research on EU and international research/case study concerning inclusive digital education methods and validated best practices, benefits of online learning and inclusion through innovative digital tools.
  • Development of contents accessible for the Moodle platform containing text and multimedia, gamification resources, etc.
  • Content development based on the research and competences derived from the previous results.
  • Pilot testing of the working session.
  • Skills assessment validation and recognition tools.
  • After the mapping of existing EU initiatives on transparency and recognition of skills and qualifications, design of suggested tools that could be applied to the VELA E-book.
  • VELA Manual: field of action and exploitation of country best practices.

Results

  • All project activities are permeated by the need to make each result most inclusive as possible.
  • Trainers/educators in VET field will be empowered with the most recent tools related to Digital Accessibility/ Responsible Use of Technology.
  • N.1 Moodle platform on Digital Accessibility will be produced.
  • N.1 Package of tools for trainers, educators in VET sector, in order to assess, validate and recognize the skills acquired through the provision to the target groups.
  • N.1 Guide on Responsible Use of Technology will be created.
  • N.50 main documents on social inclusion of vulnerable group will be stored in the Moodle platform respecting Open Access.
  • Developing EU cooperation strategies among VET providers and educational actors through the promotion of a networking across EU countries, sharing of resources and expertise, and collaboration with digital technology providers and experts in educational technologies and relevant VET practice.
