Since November 2020, we have worked in the framework of the project 2GEM – Second Generation of European Migrants – to equip 1.5 and second generation migrants with skills, competences, and knowledge necessary to act as intercultural workers within their communities by building on their unique cultural assets.
After 26 months, the project is coming to an end, but not our efforts and work on the field of community development and new opportunities for training.
On the 5th and 6th of December 2022, 2GEM consortium met in Finland, hosted by the coordinator AAR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION RY (ASDA RY), for the last transnational project meeting and the final conference.
During the meeting, we had the chance to discuss the last deadlines and assignments as well as to review the work done until now and the finalization of all the outputs.
On the 6th of December, the final conference took place at Iiris Centre: a well-functioning training and congress venue, and a service and activity centre for people with visual impairment.
We had the chance to involve sixty people, mostly Finnish citizens with African origins (Somali, Togolese, Tunisian) stimulating a discussion about the concepts of integration, inclusion and the definition of “second generation of migrants”, who indeed do not migrate from their parents’ country.

The project is going to finish on the 31st of January, and in each partner country an event for dissemination of results will be hosted. It will be a great opportunity to stimulate and discuss new ideas about intercultural work and inclusion.
