EU Programme: Erasmus+ KA2: Cooperation partnerships in Adult Education
Reference: 2021-1-FR01-KA220-ADU-000033675
Start date: 31/12/2021
End date: 30/12/2023
The music industry has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with its main activities put on hold since March 2020 across Europe. It is likely to not recover fully for at least another two – three years. Those working in the music industry are now facing unprecedented financial disaster due to coronavirus. Given the addressed challenges and needs, as a consequence, it is necessary for this target group to update their competences in business, such as in marketing, entrepreneurship, promotion, as well as self-employment skills. The SOE project aims to encourage unemployed/disengaged musicians and music industry workers to adopt a more inclusive and sustainable personal development through empowerment, self-marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
Musicians, music industry workers and aspiring music industry entrepreneurs will be provided with a new learning path related to the development of basic and transversal skills, innovative managerial competencies and entrepreneurial spirit and to validate the updated and transferred competencies. Through the learning tools provided, they will be able to empower themselves and improve their working conditions, thus having a positive impact on their physical and mental health, and personal development. The project will also help build their resilience on how to overcome issues brought on by the pandemic.
- To promote entrepreneurship education among musicians, music industry workers and aspiring music industry entrepreneurs through an innovative training approach and to validate the transferred competencies.
- To stimulate self-employment by promoting, reactivating and updating managerial skills to foster the awareness of the importance of innovation and lifelong learning.
- To provide adult educators who work with disadvantaged musicians, practical tools leading to an innovative method of training related to basic and transversal skills, managerial competencies and entrepreneurial spirit -Recognise and validate NFL at EU level.
The activities during the project lifetime include face to face and online consortium transnational meetings, engagement with the target group and stakeholder representatives through mapping and focus groups/interviews, a 4-day transnational training for adult educators who work closely with musicians and music industry workers, testing activities of the developed results as well as production of the project results with active inclusion of participants from the music industry and multiplier events to share and promote the final results.
The project will transfer competencies about the creation and running of a company in a first phase to adult educators and in a following phase to learners, through the production of 4 project results using a non-formal approach based on the idea that music (taking the success story of some rock bands as best practice examples for working in the music business) can be used as a cue to train musicians, music industry workers and aspiring music industry entrepreneurs about business and entrepreneurship.
