The project will try to support the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth with a view to innovating and improving the quality of teaching, training and youth work across Europe. Facing the pressure need to fight social exclusion, the social inclusion became one of the central goals of European policies, especially in relation to employment, lifelong learning and vocational guidance.
There is need of innovative practices that will strengthen the role of the youth work in the development of inclusive, economically prosperous and healthy societies, while young people need safe and recreational spaces that will offer them to be in contact with the nature and where they can interact with each other. There is necessity for such places that will contribute to the young people social well-being and build their capacity while allowing them to fully integrate in the society. Moreover, needs to be highlighted the importance and urgency of building an environmentally sustainable and a greener Europe, and guide young people how they can contribute and work for common goal.
- To build more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous society through the competences’ enhancement of youth workers in using educational methods connected with urban gardens.
- To equip youth workers and community members with innovative and effective tools in order to engage marginalized young people in setting up and maintaining the urban gardens as a fertile ground for social inclusion and personal development;
- To strengthen the cooperation and the share of good practices among EU organizations thus contributing to capacity building for quality youth work within their organisations and developing educational methods based on the management of urban gardens.
TRAINING COURSE
Duration: 7 days of non-formal education activities.
Venue: Sicily, Italy
Participants: N. 29 youth workers from partner countries.
GESSI Learning Guide, which can work as a sort of ‘future lab’ since it provides concrete non-formal learning tools that can support youth workers and young people to organize activities that can engage the active participation of marginalized youth (being that based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, social status or sexual orientation) and can lead towards their inclusion in society.
Results
Youth workers and other future beneficiaries will be able to:
- plan specific educational activities in urban gardening in order to shape qualitative intervention for marginalized youth and community members.
- share the knowledge about the Erasmus+ Programme and its opportunities for youth cooperation in EU.
- monitor the impact of the Urban Gardens method with social purpose on youth attitudes and practices.
- encourage youth in the combination of skills and knowledge, sharing of reflection, learning process and collective creation in favour of social intergenerational and intercultural links.
Co-experts
- Youth workers that are engaged in community work with marginalised youth, refugees, community members and young people.
- Project managers, community leaders, educators, facilitators, social workers, intercultural mediators that are interested to improve their ability in using urban gardens as a tool for the social inclusion of excluded groups.
